Summer Camp Success 2024!

This year saw DFY Sports running summer holiday camps in two locations in partnership with the Brent Council HAF programme which funds holiday camps for underprivileged children in London. In addition we were lucky enough to be given a grant by Nourish the Nation London Community Fund, which combined with our own not for profit model of 1in5 children attending for free, meant that we could expand our reach much further into Brent and welcome additional numbers of SEND children.

Running a camp at Fryent Primary for 3 weeks and at Salusbury Primary for 4 weeks, we were able to welcome more than 90 children for up to 16 days completely free! This was fantastic achievement and we are really pleased that we were able to provide weeks of fun sports, healthy food, cooking and of course lots of fun for so many children!

This year we enhanced the camp further adding in sports of the week and tournament Fridays in order to give the children something to work towards. All of the usual favourites were on offer, with skateboarding proving as popular as ever. We provide all the skating and safety equipment so that the children are able to try out a sport that cost of equipment might otherwise prohibit. Watch this space for next camp - we will have ramps!

Our classes with our wonderful cooks were really popular with the children who learnt some basic skills while making yummy food which they shared with the rest of the children later on, Bread rolls, biscuits, fruit skewers and lots more were on the menu and it was great to see the children getting stuck in and learning new skills.

Parent feedback for the camp was overwhelmingly positive and we are so happy to see children returning again and again to us. We are busy planning our next camp already and looking into an expansion to half terms - sign up to our newsletter to be kept updated with everything we offer!
